Spending endless hours at transportation, at foreign locations, waiting for my training lesson, or the next combat at a tournament, a portable theater is clearly the answer to my dreams.
For this purpose I find iPod to be the perfect solution.
When I hear the word iPod, the first thing that will come into my mind is people out jogging with tiny plugs in their ears and a small device strapped around the the arm, in a belt or pocket.
This small portable gadget can store and play audio files compressed by the Mp3, Mp4 or AAC algorithms. It can hold from just a few up to about thirty thousand songs or movies and you can play it anywhere you go. It does not lose its contents when the power is turned off, and as you can see iPods storage capacity is absolutely stunning.
There are 4 models available:
iPod Shuffle being only a music player and using a type of memory known as flash memory.
iPod Nano and iPod Classic playing both music, movies, TV shows, games and photos, and
iPod Touch that also are able to run different kind of applications like browser, mail client or maps.
After the success of the iPod in the MP3 industry, Apple has now begun to invade the home theater industry. Aside from playing your favorite music, it can now play your favorite movie through the iPods video capability.
All you have to do is plug it into a television and you are ready to share videos, movies or photos with your friends or relatives.
You can also transfer almost any kind of files from one personal computer to another. You doesn't need any gadget because the new generation iPod can handle the process.
To start your new home theater experience using your iPod, here is a step-to-step guide how to download a free movie and store it at your iPod:
- Be sure that you have connected your iPod to your computer.
- Log-on to a website, which offers free movie downloads.
- Make sure that the movie is in the Mp4, Mpeg4 format or any other format the IPod supports.
- Follow the directions at the website on how to download your free movie.
- Save the file to your iPod.
In case the file is not in Mp4 format, you have to download a video converter.
You can find lots of converters for free on the Internet. Just do a Google.
You will also need iTune, which you can download for
free @ http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
After installing the programs, convert the video file into a supported format following these steps:
- In your drop down file menu, click 'Open file'.
- Navigate to the folder where your selected file is, and open it.
- Choose a supported format as the file format in the option menu.
Since most video files are homogeneous, meaning all segments contains the same format, just convert all.
- Now open iTune and add the file to your library.
- Select the folder where the converted movie is.
- Plug your iPod to your personal computer.
- Open a window for your iPod.
- Drag the file to transfer from the iTune window into the iPod window.
- Test the movie by watching it in your iPod.
If the movie has no sudden stops in the middle of a scene, you can now watch it in your iPod anytime and anywhere.
But that's not all. You now have your own portable mini-theater too.
You can connect your iPod to any television available, being able to watch the movie on a larger screen and better sound. Alone or sharing that free movies with others.
